Top slim cigarettes popular in Australia right now

Smoke Mart Australia graphic: Slims: what is popular

Slim and super-slim cigarettes make up a large share of Australian sales, driven by the lighter draw and thinner profile. The formats differ mainly in diameter, which changes airflow, burn rate and how much tobacco each stick contains.

Check What to expect
Format Practical difference
Regular / king size The reference draw and burn
Slim Thinner, lighter pull, faster burn
Super slim Thinnest, lightest draw
All formats Same duty per stick, same harm profile

Choosing a slim format

If you are switching from king size, expect a tighter draw and quicker burn. Buy one pack before committing to a carton, and keep the number the same so you are only changing one variable.

What “light” would have meant

The old “light” descriptor is banned on Australian packs, because it implied reduced harm. Slims are a format preference; they are not a lower-risk choice, and no compliant pack will suggest otherwise.

Before you order — four checks that never change

  1. Price against the excise floor. Duty is $1.55274 a stick from 1 September 2026 — about $31 in a 20-pack and $310 in a carton. Popularity is not protection: slim formats are heavily counterfeited in the grey market.
  2. The pack in the photo. Legal Australian stock is drab brown (Pantone 448C) with graphic warnings covering at least 75% of the front and 90% of the back — no logos, no brand artwork.
  3. Age and delivery. Distance sellers must verify you are 18 or over, and somebody who can sign and show ID has to be at the address. Lockers and unstaffed addresses can be refused.
  4. State rules. South Australia prohibits mail and online tobacco orders outright; everywhere else requires an age-verification system.
