MAC super-slims in Australia: what to know before you buy

MAC is one of the super-slim names in the Australian budget tier, usually stocked in menthol and capsule variants for smokers who like a thin format with a flavour option.
| Check | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Format | Super-slim |
| Common variants | Menthol and capsule (“crush”) options |
| Capsule mechanic | A bead in the filter you press to release flavour |
| Price floor | Any carton must carry ~$310 of duty to be lawful |
Capsules: what pressing actually does
A capsule cigarette contains a flavoured bead in the filter. Press it and you get flavoured smoke; leave it and you smoke the plain blend. It is a flavour switch, not a strength switch.
Super-slim draw
Thinner cigarettes have less tobacco and tighter airflow, so they burn a little faster and pull lighter. If you are used to king size, expect an adjustment period.
Stock photos that do not match reality
Compliant Australian listings show brown packs with large warnings. If a listing shows glossy artwork, an overseas-looking carton, or no on-product filter message, the stock is not lawful Australian retail product.
Before you order — four checks that never change
- Price against the excise floor. Duty is $1.55274 a stick from 1 September 2026 — about $31 in a 20-pack and $310 in a carton. Capsule super-slims are frequently counterfeited because the flavour feature makes them easy to market — verify the duty maths first.
- The pack in the photo. Legal Australian stock is drab brown (Pantone 448C) with graphic warnings covering at least 75% of the front and 90% of the back — no logos, no brand artwork.
- Age and delivery. Distance sellers must verify you are 18 or over, and somebody who can sign and show ID has to be at the address. Lockers and unstaffed addresses can be refused.
- State rules. South Australia prohibits mail and online tobacco orders outright; everywhere else requires an age-verification system.
