Buying tobacco in Chermside: delivery, rules and checks

Chermside is Brisbane’s northern retail hub, where commercial centres and dense residential blocks sit side by side.
| Check | What to expect |
|---|---|
| State rule | Queensland — health-law regulation, no retail licence |
| Typical delivery | 1–3 business days to south-east Queensland |
| Age check | Adult signature and ID at the door |
| Pack sizes | Sealed packs of 20 or more; singles illegal |
Delivering to Chermside
Chermside enjoys some of the fastest delivery in Brisbane, usually 1–2 business days from a city warehouse. As with any dense hub, the practical issue is who is home — retail-strip addresses can be harder to serve than residential ones.
Fast windows, simple handover
- 1–2 business days is typical from Brisbane dispatch.
- Residential addresses generally beat shopping-centre addresses for signature delivery.
- Beware “discount carton” ads — the duty floor is the test that never fails.
Before you order — four checks that never change
- Price against the excise floor. Duty is $1.55274 a stick from 1 September 2026 — about $31 in a 20-pack and $310 in a carton. Chermside is quick: the only real decision is which address to use.
- The pack in the photo. Legal Australian stock is drab brown (Pantone 448C) with graphic warnings covering at least 75% of the front and 90% of the back — no logos, no brand artwork.
- Age and delivery. Distance sellers must verify you are 18 or over, and somebody who can sign and show ID has to be at the address. Lockers and unstaffed addresses can be refused.
- State rules. South Australia prohibits mail and online tobacco orders outright; everywhere else requires an age-verification system.
