Menthol vs full-flavour: which style fits your smoking?

The most common flavour decision in Australia is between a full-flavour blend and a menthol one — and within menthol, between blended flavour and a capsule. It is a preference decision, so the useful questions are about consistency, not quality.
| Check | What to expect |
|---|---|
| If you want… | Choose… |
| The same taste every cigarette | Blended flavour (full-flavour or menthol) |
| To decide per cigarette | Single-capsule product |
| Variety within a pack | Dual-capsule product |
| A cooler-feeling smoke | Any menthol or mint variant |
Consistency vs control
Blended products deliver one experience. Capsule products deliver a switch. Neither is better; smokers who experiment value the switch, smokers who want routine value the blend.
What does not change
Strength numbers, duty and harm. A menthol 8mg and a full-flavour 8mg are variant peers — the number identifies the variant, not a rating, and the flavour does not make either safer.
Before you order — four checks that never change
- Price against the excise floor. Duty is $1.55274 a stick from 1 September 2026 — about $31 in a 20-pack and $310 in a carton. This is a taste decision; the compliance and price checks are identical either way.
- The pack in the photo. Legal Australian stock is drab brown (Pantone 448C) with graphic warnings covering at least 75% of the front and 90% of the back — no logos, no brand artwork.
- Age and delivery. Distance sellers must verify you are 18 or over, and somebody who can sign and show ID has to be at the address. Lockers and unstaffed addresses can be refused.
- State rules. South Australia prohibits mail and online tobacco orders outright; everywhere else requires an age-verification system.
